Visit Sacramento has announced their lineup of local chefs to for the 2017 Tower Bridge Dinner – an extravagant outdoor gala that highlights the agricultural success of the city, and its blossoming Farm-To-Fork movement. Included in the elite lineup of culinary superstars is Golden 1 Center’s own Michael Tuohy and Santana Diaz of Legends Hospitality.
In an interview with the Sacramento Bee, chef Diaz expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the city.
“I’m very honored to be part of it,” said Diaz, a Yuba City native who was recently promoted as executive chef at Golden 1 Center. “It’s a very Sacramento-esque event.”
As reported, “a major part of the new arena’s food program was its 90/150 pledge – sourcing 90 percent of its ingredients from within 150 miles of the Golden 1 Center. The arena’s food blueprint is a reflection of the city’s ongoing marketing campaign as ‘America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital.’”
Similarly, Tuohy highlighted the importance that an event like this brings to the community here in Sacramento.
“It’s all about Sacramento and the uniqueness that we have here, celebrating food and our region,” said Tuohy. “It’s great for Sacramento to be able to bring the community together. The festival is now attracting 50,000 people to the Capitol Mall.”
The Tower Bridge dinner has proven to be a booming success since its arrival five years ago, and has routinely sold out in a matter of minutes. Subsequently, last years’ coordinators set up a lottery system for ticket-seekers.
Mark your calendars: This year’s dinner will take place on September 24!
