“I’ll always be with you no matter where I am.”
These are some of the kind words Lance Corporal Honeywood had for his baby sister after surprising her at her high school graduation from Cosumnes Oaks High School at Golden 1 Center last Wednesday.
A member of the Marine Corps, Honeywood just returned from a nearly year-long deployment in Australia. Unbeknownst to his sister Kali, he was waiting on stage alongside Cosumnes Oaks administrators to congratulate her as she received her hard-earned high school diploma.
The siblings exchanged a tearful embrace on stage as the crowd bursted with applause and cheers.
When asked what he had to say to the new graduate, he told CBS Sacramento, “Good job and I’m proud of you. Keep working hard and I love you.”
The Marine plans to stay home in Sacramento for a little while before departing for deployment once again to Japan.
In the meantime, we wish the brother and sister a well deserved period of R&R as they both celebrate major accomplishments and a joyful reunion!
