Less than a month from opening, Golden 1 Center is set to become the most technologically advanced arena on the globe. With the recent install of wideband multi-mode fiber – a capacity-boosting network technology supplied by CommScope – the new home of the Kings will provide an unprecedented technological advantage to fans.
This new improvement in fiber optic technology will increase capacity by four times over standard fiber. The increased bandwidth will provide patrons with an ultra-fast connection, capable of delivering data at rates of 100 gigabits per second.
In addition, the multimode fiber will allow for the installment of future technologies in the arena without encountering increased costs for infrastructure upgrades.
Comcast Business – with the help of CommScope and Valley Communications – is in the process of installing more than 900 miles of fiber and copper cabling for Golden 1 Center. This includes 670 miles of single mode fiber, more than any other sports venue in the world.
Watch as global leader of Data Center Solutions at CommScope John Schmidt explains more about the fiber optic technology present in the new downtown arena.
